“The cure for anything is salt water - sweat, tears, or the sea.”
I grew up on the sandy beaches of South Carolina! There is nothing better! I have the best childhood memories of family vacations on Fripp Island in Beaufort & even better memories of skipping class in college with all the girls to enjoy the beautiful weather (and drinks!) at Folly Beach in Charleston! I can't wait until Nelson gets here and we can build more memories at the beach!! :) I love watching the little naked babies on the beach roll around in the sand! :)
I know it's not beach weather and this project might be a little "out of season" -- but I can't help dreaming about the summer weather, the sound of the waves and the salt water! Plus -- I looovee beach hair!!! The saltwater just does something wonderful for the waves in my hair!
With Nelson and I together, we are going to need something bigger than a regular towel but I refuse to pay $40.00 for a Beach Blanket so I decided to make one!
I found a vinyl tablecloth on sale at Bed Bath & Beyond for $3.00 and bought two regular bath towels at Walmart! The bottom layer of the blanket is waterproof vinyl and perfect to throw on the sand, so that afterwards you can wipe it down! The top layer are the soft towels!! I added a little pocket in the corner to hold a book or sunscreen or whatever you may need!
I tried to get a picture of the whole blanket -- but it's pretty big -
about 52" x 52"!! (That's the pocket in the bottom right corner)
It folds up nice and small -- it's ready to be thrown in a beach bag for a great day at the Beach! :)
