So, I had seen some like this at a Jewelry show and decided to make my own .... this is what I came up with!!! If you want to make one of these - there is a tutorial below!
Here's a close-up of the lace with the earrings!
It's very easy to make -- and very inexpensive! Start to finish the project took less than an hour.
Here's what you need:
- Lace
- Fabric Stiffening Liquid
- An embroidery hoop (any size & shape you want)
- Paint (any color you want for the hoop)
- Ribbon or any decorations you want for the top
- Hot Glue or Craft glue
The first step is to paint the wooden hoop -- I used white acrylic paint because it dries really quickly and I'm impatient!
While the paint is drying on the wooden hoop, get out your lace and cut it a little larger than the hoop. I used lace from goodwill -- it was an old tablecloth on sale for .99! Coat your fabric with the fabric stiffening liquid (make sure you put down wax paper or something first, so you don't ruin your table). You can find the Fabric Stiffening Liquid at any craft store (I got mine at michael's with the hoop).
Once everything is dry (don't worry - it's all quick -- by the time we were done with dinner it was all dry) stretch the lace fabric in between the two parts of the embroidery hoop! Make sure you pull it tight, but careful not to rip the lace.
Add your embellishments to the top with hot glue (I liked the simple ribbon) and you're done! VOILA!! Now go enjoy your organized and adorable earring display!
