Twice as long ...

So what has motherhood taught me?

Everything takes twice as long! ... and as much as I absolutely adore my little monkey, I really miss my pre-baby efficiency!! :)

Here are the things that I miss/took for granted :

1. Being able to do ANYTHING quickly ... well that's not true. When it comes to Nelson, I do everything quickly. The longer I take - the louder he screams, so I'm quick, very quick! BUT - when it comes to errands - no way! The days of running into the gas station to grab a Diet Coke are over! :) Any errand now invovles car seats, strollers, diaper bags, etc! It never fails - the times that I leave the diaper bag in the car -- Nelson needs a diaper change. Nelson has about the same amount of patience I do = zero.

2. Sleep! This one is an obvious! I would kill for more than 2 hours of sleep at a time. ok ... so maybe not killl - but it would be AMAZING! I bet a good night's beauty sleep could do wonders for my face, haha! In case you're the mother of a child that actually sleeps -- please keep your "my child has been sleeping through the night since 6 weeks" stories to yourself. No one cares. Just Kidding. Sort of. My child doesn't sleep -- therefore, neither do I!

3. My vanity! I LOVE CLOTHES! I LOVE MAKE UP! I LOVE GETTING ALL DOLLED UP! but for the most part, those days are over! haha. Well - not completely over - but its definitely NOT a part of my daily routine anymore - it's way too much work to get Nelson ready and myself! I mean, as long as he looks CUTE - no one is looking at me anyways, right? :)

4. My husband! :) George left for OCS not much longer after Nelson was born - but those first few weeks with him were wonderful! I miss his help, his support, his hugs, his "boy bonding" time with Nelson (they would snuggle on the couch and watch Terminator). I can't wait for him to come home -- 50 days and counting!

5. My sewing machine!! It's tucked away in the closet just waiting for those days when Nelson actually naps!! :) Those days do happen, right?

But you know what?
This adorable little face is
SOOOOO worth it all!!!

  1. First of all, I'm pretty sure you could roll out of bed and be adorable. Second of all, that kid is so stinkin cute.
