I picked up this little beauty at a Yard Sale for $5.00!!
Yes, $5.00!
I threw the money on the counter and ran to grab the nearest marker to tag it "sold" before anyone else could snatch up my deal of the century!
I fell in love with those curves!
and those adorable little legs!!
But that color ... awful, terrible -
very 70's and NOT in a good way.
(is there a good kind of "70"s? not sure!)
Once I got it home, I realized that it was all SOLID wood and had dovetailed drawers!
SCORE! :)
I sanded it down ...
I just used sandpaper & lots of elbow grease ... no fancy machine for me. :(
Not yet anyways.
Pretty please Santa?
Then I primed it - two coats.
Goodbye Vomit Green.
Then I painted it - Valspar's Thomas Jefferson White.
I used their prime & paint in one, just for extra coverage.
I wasn't diggin' the all white (I forgot to take a picture!),
and I was feeling a little bold -
so I went with a turquoise sample I had in the garage!!!
LOOVEEE.
A little retro, huh?
Oh look at those sexy curves ...
I loved the original hardware - but only 4 of them were salvageable.
I spray painted them with Krylon Oil Rubbed Bronze!
I was trying to do this make-over on a very tight budget
and already had those top round knobs on hand.
Eventually I'll replace them with something different -
but for now, they serve their purpose!
I picked up that mirror at Goodwill for $3.99 - a fresh coat of black Spray Paint and it was as good as new! The picture frames I had - just painted them black. The vases are all .99 Goodwill finds - spray painted to match. The Candle Stick was Hobby Lobby clearance ($1.99) - spray painted of course and the flower was HL 50% off ($1.50). The sconces were another Thrift Store find for.99 each! :)
It's all in the details ...
so just because I looooveee this transformation - here it is one more time. :)
