Rub A Dub Dub ...

Monkey Man's in the Tub!

Isn't he precious? :)

He LOVES bathtime & his Rubber Ducky.

I just love when you have a Need for something and then you are able to fulfill that need with something that you MAKE, something that's CUTE and something that's Inexpensive! :)

Well - this project was exactly that!

Monkey Man's bathroom is also the guest bathroom -- (thankfully he's not old enough yet to request a Finding Nemo theme so I still have free reign over decorating). It doesn't have a childish theme - but it is a child's bathrom -- which means there is a very big, wonky, tacky, plastic baby bathtub that is ALWAYS in the way!!

It just doesn't fit anywhere - it's too big to tuck away and I'm too lazy to pull it out of the closet once (normally TWICE) a day! No, not lazy - efficient. and lugging that wet, dripping bathtub in and out of a closet is inefficient! :)

See ... awkward. annoying. and the green sooo clashes [valley girl voice!].

It's just in the way - and yesterday after bath time I tripped over it. UGH!! So I thought "Man, There has to be a way to store this bad boy so that it will be convenient yet hidden!". So the wheels started turning ... and I came up with this!!

It's perfect! I already had EVERYTHING on hand - so it was free
and I can close the curtain and pretend it's not there! :)

I don't know what you would call it -- maybe just a "Hide-away Bathtub Hook"? Who knows. Either way ... it keeps the bathtub out of the way just enough so that our lovely guests can shower and brush their teeth without dodging the big green, cleaning machine! :)

It was so easy! I took an old sign that I had laying around and hand-painted it! Added a hook I had laying around that I found at GW for .59!

Then I drilled two holes in the bathtub ...

Used some Twine to hang it ...

and that's it! :) A Hideaway Bathtub Hook Sign (?).
That's a terrible name - but isn't it lovely?

So how about you? Have you worked on a project lately that does exactly what you intended for it to do? Something out of the ordinary? I'd love to hear about it - or add a link with pictures!!

  1. Rock on, mama! That's awesome! I, too, love being able to meet a need around the house with something homemade.

I've made a few things for A - a trash bin to match her room, a kleenex cover for her bathroom, a stool for when she's older, etc., but I'm jealous of your craftiness!

  2. BTW - love your header photos, particularly that gorgeous wedding gown! How did you make it (the header, not the gown LOL)!
