Anthro Inspired Ruffled Scarf Tutorial.

In case you missed my guest post yesterday -
Here's the tutorial for the Ritzy Ruffled Scarf!

It's the most wonderful time of year!!!!
and it's [finally] starting to get cold here in Florida!
YAY for jackets, mittens & scarves!!!
So when I saw a ruffled scarf at Anthropology the other day -
I just knew I could make my own for a LOT less!!!

and when I saw A Little Lovely's 10 gifts under $10,
I knew I was up for the challenge!

I absolutely love how it turned out and it was very simple to make!!
and since it came in at less than $8.00 and took less than 30 minutes,
you should make one for everyone you know! :)

Let's get started!

What you need:
- 1/2 yard Knit Fabric ($7.50 for 1/2 yard @ JoAnn)
- Matching Thread
*Yup, that's it!

1. Lay your Fabric flat and cut it into 3 strips, 6 " wide by the width of your fabric (mine was 45")

Here's a diagram of your cuts!

2. Pin & sew the three strips together so that you have one very long piece of material!

3. Now you want to set the tension & stitch to the widest/highest on your machine

(My tension was 9 & my stitch width was 5)

Now it's time to start start sewing! :)

4. You want to measure 2" in from one side and sew all the way down!
Knit ruffles VERY easily - so this won't take any time at all!

You will know your settings are right if the material goes in straight & comes out the other end ruffled!

See! How easy is that?

5. Now sew the other side -- once again, measure 2" in from the side and sew all the way down!

hint: Help feed the fabric through with your hands when working
on the second ruffle, so that your ruffles stay even!

6. Change the settings on your sewing machine back to normal and stitch over your previous stitches! This will keep the ruffles in place! ;)

That's it!!!
You're done!!!!
I told you it was simple!

and the best part?
You can wear it so many different ways!!

*please excuse the TERRIBLE self-photos,
Monkey Man isn't quite old enough to help yet!*

Simply drape it around your shoulders ...

or toss one side around the neck & over the shoulder ...

or even attach a sweet Felt Flower Brooch for added embellishment! :)

and then wear it like this ...

or maybe like this ...

So many options! So inexpensive! So stylish!
You can't go wrong with this Ritzy Ruffled Scarf! :)

Want to make the Flower Brooch to go with it?
Tutorial for that coming tomorrow!!
