Little Green Books Review {+ Giveaway!}

I love when I find exciting new green products for monkey man,
and Little Green Books didn't let us down!

Little Green Books is a new eco-friendly line of books that teach young children about everything "from recycling and replanting to creating an awareness of endangered animals".

"Little Green Books plant the seeds for
earth-friendly living at an early age."

"What sets Little Green books apart from other "green" books is that in addition to the themes, the manufacturing of these books is also environmentally friendly. Our books are printed on recycled materials with vegetable or soy inks"

Little Green Books graciously sent us 4 books to review!

Little Monkey by Kimberly Ainsworth ($9.99)

Meet Little Monkey and his friend Little Panda as they spend their day eating their favorite foods and playing together! Little ones will love to cuddle with this supersoft fleece cloth book that's made out of cotton and recycled Polartec® fleece. This book is machine-washable and comes packaged in a chipboard box that's made from 100% recycled material. It's the perfect gift for a baby! (Recommended for ages 0 to 3)

Little Panda by Kimberly Ainsworth ($9.99)

Meet Little Panda and his friend Little Monkey as they spend their day eating their favorite foods and playing together. Just like Little Monkey this is a supersoft fleece cloth book that's made out of cotton and recycled Polartec® fleece that is machine-washable and comes packaged in a chipboard box that's made from 100% recycled material. Another perfect baby gift and would make a great set if purchased with Little Monkey! (Recommended for ages 0 to 3)

What Do You See? by Stephen Krensky ($6.99)
.
From a panda bear to a butterfly, each spread in this lift-the-flap book features text and die cuts     which hint at the animal's identity, until finally it
is revealed by lifting the flap! And, it is composed of 100% recycled material, too!

My First Garden by Wendy Lewison ($6.99)

Come along with a mother and daughter as they dig up soil, plant a flower bed, and water the seeds to make their very first garden. Together they watch the colorful vegetables grow, grow, grow! This book teaches a first concept of colors as well. The book has a handle die-cut through on every page so kids can take the book with them wherever they go! (Recommended for ages 2 to 5)

The minute I opened the package from Little Green Books, I was impressed! If you were planning on giving these as a gift - you wouldn't need any special gift wrap! The boxes they come in are adorable! :)

All four of these books were such a big hit - I'm not sure which one was his favorite!

Monkey man loved Little Monkey and Little Panda because they are so soft, edible and the pictures are so bright! ;) I loved that they were educational - The panda eats bamboo and climb trees while the monkey eats leaves and lives high above the ground. The best part? They are washable!! Need I say more?

We loved cuddling up at night to read, What do you See?, the lift-the-flap story about endangered animals. Although Nelson is still a little too young to flip the flaps, he loved watching me lift them and peeking at animals underneath. The rhythmic flow of the words, the lifting flaps and the great pictures really kept his attention and had him giggling over and over again!

My First Garden was one of my favorites! The book is shaped like a basket, complete with handles - which Nelson loved to carry around all day long! The illustrations are wonderful and the book itself is very educational because it teaches children the names of vegetables, as well as their colors! For now we love looking at the pictures and learning the words but this book will definitely grow with us as Monkey gets older and we can further discuss nutritional value and healthy eating habits!

But that's not all! Little Green Books also has a wonderful website that includes games, a green glossary, green tips, and downloadable activities that relate to the books and provide great supplementary resources, allowing teachers and parents to expand on the lessons in each book. How great is that?

  17. I would probably go with the Polar Bear book. Although honestly if I don't win I might still have to go and get "Little Monkey", my 6 month old nephew (first nephew so i'm obsessed) has recently acquired the ability to sit, grab, and put anything he can into his mouth. These books would be a perfect gift to read to him when I finally get to see him at Christmas! I have been looking for something slobber-proof :)
