My sweet sweet baby boy turned ONE this weekend!!
He got big boy milk for the first time! :)
and he had the best birthday any little big boy could ask for! :)
The theme was The Very Hungry Caterpillar ....
Nelson LOVES the book The Very Hungry Caterpillar!
and it was such a fun theme to carry out!
From the decorations to the food to the gift bags!
With hopes that this won't be the LONGEST.POST.EVER - I'll do it in parts!
and let's start with the decorations, since I spent the most time on those!!!
These were the centerpieces we had on the tables!
A cleaned out baby Target Puffs container, some red paint, Eric Carle paper, floral foam, shredded paper, a Popsicle stick and 5 wooden circles made these little hungry caterpillars come to life!
So easy! So inexpensive! So cute!
I painted this poster board sign to go above the Candy Buffet ...
and used my Silhouette to cut out the letters! :)
I'm no artist - but it turned out cute enough!
I used my Martha Stewart Circle Cutter to cut the circles for his high chair banner!
This was one of my favorite things ....
Monkey's "year in pictures"!
I just hung a piece of ribbon the wall and used a decorated clothespin to hold 12 pictures -
one from each month!
Everyone loved looking at how monkey had changed over the year!!
I designed the "monthly labels" in powerpoint (no fancy software for me!) and then used a 2.5" circle cutter to cut them out! Some blue paint and a dab of hot glue and they were ready!
The hardest part was picking out only 12 pictures!!
Here's the Happy Birthday Banner!
Once again, I just used the MS Circle Cutter (40% coupon at JoAnn - aammaazzzinng) and cut 5" and 6" circles out of cardstock! I used my Silhouette (love!) to cut out the letters and attached them with a Glue Stick I found from 2003. :) I used a hole punch and coordinating ribbon to tie it all together! It took about 2 hours or less - and cost about $5.00 - much cheaper than buying it on Etsy for $30!!
As the kids were leaving - they got gift bags (in coordinating colors of course) with either A Very Hungry Caterpillar board book or Eric Carle Coloring Book - depending on their age!
We also had a Candy Buffet (pictures coming soon) with goody bags so the kids could take some with them! :)
Part 2? Food & Candy Buffet!!!
See you tomorrow!!
