I had every intention of modeling the food exactly like the food in the book ...
You know ....
On Monday he ate one apple, but he was still hungry.
On Tuesday he ate two pears, but he was still hungry.
On Wednesday he ate .... etc, etc, etc .
I had grand plans of printing out the phrases and placing them around the food and using straws to make the holes! But then the week of the party came - real world hit - and I didn't do any of that!!
but perfect or not - the food was delicious!
But before I show you how delicious it was - I must give a quick shoutout!! Although the "vision" for this party was all mine - there is NO WAY I could have done any of it without the help of my mom & stepdad (who flew in from DC) and my sister & grandmother (who flew in from SC)! Thank you guys so much. For everything!!!
and now for the food ----
There was a plethora of sandwiches ...
Chicken Salad Croissants, Ham & Cheddar, Turkey & Provolone, Egg Salad -
and of course - PB&J for the picky ones!
Chips galore! :)
Black Bean & Corn Salsa with Tortilla Chips.
Homemade Hummus & Pita chips.
a deliciously, fresh Vegetable Tray.
and my favorite part - Hungry Caterpillar Fruit Skewers! :)
Oh and we can't forget about the drinks ...
I soaked the bottles in hot water, peeled off the labels and then attached my own Hungry Caterpillar labels! A little more powerpoint "design" (if you can call it that!), a circle punch and some hot glue!
then some "adult beverages" for the men!
You can barely see it - but I wrapped some Eric Carle paper around the Galvanized Tub, just to keep everything cohesive!
There was caterpillar punch, tea & lemonade for the adults!
as well as juice boxes & capri suns for the kiddos!
