{Cupcake Topper Tutorial}

I'm throwing my first baby shower on Saturday!!!
I absolutely LOVE planning parties so I'm very excited!

This friend has her babies SUPER early and goes on bedrest even earlier ...
so we decided to do the shower last minute - you know - before she can't leave bed to come out and have some fun!

I decided on a very casual Couple's BBQ!
Think Hamburger/Hotdog/Pulled BBQ with all the goodies.
Baked Beans, Coleslaw, Potato Salad.
Beer in Galvanized Tubs. *maybe an old wagon*
Mason Jars with Flowers for the Centerpieces!

but a casual BBQ does not have to mean red and white gingham.
No Ma'am. I don't roll like that!
I am the Preppy Mom after all! :)
We're going with a lime green & bright blue color scheme!
Paper Lanterns, Pom Pom Balls and cupcake stands!

First up?
{Cupcake Toppers}

(Let me apologize in advance for the TERRIBLE pictures! It was LATE and the hubs was watching a movie, so all the lights were off! It's hard crafting/taking pictures in the dark!)

Now I cheated a little -- I used my silhouette but you could definitely do them without.
I'll tell you how to do it both ways!

Gather all your supplies:
- 2 Different Size Paper Punches (I used 2.5" and 2 inch squares)
- Cardstock - I like to use one patterned, one solid
- Lollipop Sticks (150 for $3.99 at Joann's with 40% coupon)
- Stickers, Cut Outs, Embellishments (any design that goes with your theme)

1. Decide what images you want for your cupcake toppers! Since I thought grills & other BBQ pictures might be a bit tacky - I went with basic baby things! I downloaded them from the Silhouette Store for .99 and sized them to be less than 2 inches.

2. Then I let this baby do all the cutting! ;)
Oh how I love that little guy!

3. Cut out your Squares with your punches. I am making 24.

4. Dab some glue on the back of the smaller square and attach to the larger.
*I initially started with Elmers but quickly switched to hot glue*

5. Attach your "cut outs" on top of the other 2 squares (so you have 3 layers)! If you don't have a Silhouette, you could either find an image on google and cut them out by hand or buy a pack of Stickers!
(That's what I did for Monkey Man's 1st birthday and it was EASY!)

6. Hot glue your Lollipop stick to the back.

7. There you have it!! Enjoy your adorable Cupcake Toppers!

The possibilities are endless ... just have fun and be creative!
If you make some - let me know! :) I'd love to see what you come up with!
