Too young for crayons?! Toddler Craft Area

While I was planning out my new craft room (slash guest room),
I knew I needed a spot for Nelson to "play" as well --
otherwise I would never get any crafting done!!

I decided to create a little "art area" just for him --
Right next to me!
(He's still much too young to be left unsupervised with crayons! haha)

(what great posture, Monkey Man! I'm proud)

We already had the small table and chairs -
I just gave them a fresh coat of Spray Paint! :)
If you're wondering - they are from Ikea,
but I paid way too much and bought them on Amazon.
so don't do that.

I used a small cafe rod and basket from Ikea that I already had,
along with some dollar aisle buckets to hold his art "supplies".

The Easel and Paper Roll are from Ikea as well --
 then spray painted! :)

I used my Silhouette & black cinyl to cut out the quote for the magnet board.
This also came from Ikea and used to be orange! :)
It's perfect for displaying his latest artwork!

I still need to add some something to spice up his corner---
but for now -- I love it!!
It's a great addition to my craft room,
and most importantly - Nelson loves it!!

(and so do his friends .... when he shares!)

Now I just have to remember to keep that door shut,
because Nelson likes to sneak in and "color".
and as much as I love color,
I'd like to keep these rental walls white and crayon free!

Besides two cans of spray paint, I already had everything on hand!
I love inexpensive projects that make a big difference!

So what do you think?!
Am I crazy to let him have crayons and markers?! :)
Have I mentioned the guest bedding is WHITE! lol.

p.s. it's SOOO good to be back!

  5. Very NICE! I especially love the magnetic board that you spiced up! SO cool!!! I think it's great that you're encouraging the artist in him at such an early age :) We've tried to do the same thing with out kids & we've definitely got marks around our house to show for it...including black permanent marker on our white comforter...so my best advice is to hide the stuff that you know won't wash out! Hahaha!

  8. Simply adorable. I saw that table and chairs at IKEA too. I'm going to purchase them and give them a huge makeover too. They are so bland in the original state.
