Pinterest Challenge: SuperHero Peg Dolls

Two of my all time favorite bloggers,
along with a new favorite -- Our Fifth House --
team up to host the Pinterest Challenge.

It's a genius idea really ...
We are all guilty -- we pin, pin, pin --
but rarely DO the things that we pin.
So this encourages us to get our little hineys into gear.
and since I need all the motivation I can get,
I jumped on the Pinterest Challenge bandwagon.
Albeit, a little late.
But fashionably late! ;)

So what did Pinterest Project did I make?
These little studs ...
I have an awesome idea for these little guys ...
which I'm working on today during nap time! ;)

Where did my idea come from?
Well, I first saw these little wooden peg dolls over at Little Blue Boo.
Then I saw some more adorable ones at Homemade by Jill.
And while they are both WAY more talented painters than I ...
I gave it a try!!!
and I'm so glad I did, because I love how they turned out!

I picked up a pack of wooden peg dolls at Hobby Lobby.
They were $2.99 and I used a 40% off coupon = CHEAP!
Then I just used brushes and paints that I had on hand ...
mixing colors if I needed (like Purple and Orange).
The only problem was that I needed SMALLER brushes for the details.
I am in no way an artist.
I couldn't paint to save my life.
But I can "copy" well enough ...
and thankfully -- women like Ashley @ Lil Blue Boo
and Jill @ Homemade by Jill are amazing!!
So you should definitely check out their versions! ;)

and what really mattters is that my boys LOVE them.
They haven't put them down all morning.

I LOVE the Pinterest challenge.
I love that it kicks my little booty into being productive.

and I can't wait to show you what I have planned for these guys!
oh and Wild Man successfully identified each character (even Woody and Buzz), so I'd say it was a first time painter's success!{at least in the eyes of a 2.5 year old}

  2. What a great idea! I saw some cute ones on pinterest too but they were way out of me league, or at least what I want to invest, but these look perfect. And awesome for little boys too! Thanks for sharing. :)

  3. I love them! I used Permanet markers, ribbon and these little guys to make "bowling Men"- from the Disney Family Fun Magazine. They were fun and fast!! :)
